APWU Announces Rank and File

 Bargaining Committee Members

In preparation for the possibility of an agreement to extend the Collective Bargaining Agreement, APWU President William Burrus announced Nov. 5 that National Executive Board members had made their selections to serve on the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee. He said the committee would be convened if a tentative agreement is reached and cautioned that no agreement has been reached yet.

Burrus announced Oct. 28 that the union and the Postal Service were discussing a two-year extension of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is due to expire Nov. 20, 2003.

The names of the committee members appear below, alongside the officer who selected them. The Rank and File Bargaining Committee is composed of 13 APWU members, appointed by members of the APWU National Executive Board, in accordance with Article 13.9 of the APWU Constitution and Bylaws. The committee also includes a member of the APWU Deaf/Hard of Hearing Task Force, in accordance with an amendment to the APWU Constitution and Bylaws that was passed at the National Convention in August.

If a tentative agreement is forged, the terms would be presented to the Rank and File Bargaining Advisory Committee, which would decide whether to send the agreement to APWU members for a ratification vote.

If an extension is agreed upon, it would be the first of its kind in APWU history. If an agreement to extend the contract is not reached, full-scale negotiations will begin in August 2003.
